In a constant search for evolution, the JOURDEN feminine codes have gained a new lightness for Spring Summer 17 through a daring play on juxtapositions of fabrics, volumes and textures.

Delicately balanced silhouettes, strong on color and textural effects, blend notions of the ethereal and solid, edgy and formal, dream and reality.

This season's collection has a '60s moment with paisley jacquard denim jackets, hot pants and trousers decorated with mirrored discs along with jacquard paneled minidresses with undulating hems and coat dresses.

The exploration of fabrics like "fil coupe" give a feathery texture to asymmetric ruffled hems on skirts and dresses; the same special effect animates A-line coats and cascades from tulle capelets creating an Impressionist vibration.

Abstract flower motifs appear on the relief of double-layer fabrics, adding a certain strangeness to the volume of criss-cross halter top dresses and mid-length skirts.

Industrial and artisanal techniques are married in the aspect of a graphic polka dot motif mechanically embroidered on tulle achieved by placing each finished garment under a hot press so the thread melts, creating a synthetic shine.

Smocking techniques are used throughout the collection pushing boundaries, creating the impression of horizontal color stripes on long voluminous dresses made from classic Oxford shirting fabric.

Graphic, subtlely translucent knitwear is paired with floor-sweeping skirts, their volumes and movements achieved from the juxtaposition of different fabric weights.

From maxi skirts to mini shorts, rich textures to transparencies, in a playful and modern confrontation of fabrics and constructions, JOURDEN's evening-daywear looks express a casualness in their grandeur.

JOURDEN x CAREL CAPSULE SHOE COLLECTION
To fully complete the SS17 silhouette, JOURDEN collaborates with iconic French footwear brand CAREL creating a capsule shoe collection including eight shoe styles carrying the same design ethos of twisting feminine classics.

A Mary Jane style has been morphed into a knee-high boot or a jlat mule; ballerina-style criss-cross lacing runs up the open front of thigh-nign boots with block heels or hook-ana-eye styles with grosgrain lace.

The bewitching palette spans baby pink, light blue or teal suede, black or yellow satin and a bold metallic nappa leather in gold, silver or red.

JOURDEN BIOGRAPHY
JOURDEN was founded in 2012 by Anais Mak.

Born and raised in Hong Kong, where the brand is based, Anais moved to Paris to study fashion design at the Studio Bercot. But it was back on home turf, while putting her ideas into practice in the ateliers of local garment makers and tailors on regular trips back to Hong Kong during her studies, that she got to forge her skills as a designer, confronting her creative dreams with reality.

It was through learning from these artisans - and in turn and pushing their boundaries - that the designer was able to hone her distinctive design aesthetic: a subtly perverted take on formal femininity hooked on controlled volumes and fabric experimentation.

The formal wear and old school elements inspired by her well-disciplined childhood growing up in Hong Kong are the canvas of the JOURDEN silhouette. Mixing artisanal and industrial techniques to make clothes that are utterly modern; collections that lend themselves to all types of girls and lifestyles.

JOURDEN (also Anais's middle name) is about a casual attitude, delivering a graphic punch to generic femininity. A take on the notion of dressing up that is more about twisting the codes of the classic feminine look than breaking them.

Being proper nowadays is seen as a new form of rebellion.

JOURDEN is sold at key international retailers such as Colette, Barneys, Ikram, Lane Crawford, Isetan, Tom Greyhound and Le Bon Marche.
